Since 1979 Sagarmatha national peak has been listed as UNESCO world heritage site, reflecting its importance preserve for rare for are Himalayan animals and plants. Himalayan tahr, must deer and monals ( also known as Daphne or impeyan pheasants ) are now quite commonly seen in the forests below namche bazaar, but snow leopards, Himalayan bears, Himalayan wolves, red pandas and other high – altitude species still hover on the verge of extinction.

Park rules prohibit trekkers from using wood as flue, and glass bottles were banned in 1998.
