Tour Details

The Gurungs have a tendency to live in the higher countryside , their homeland is central middle hill throughout the Annapurna region. They are Tibeto Burmese people with a unique shamanistic religion that is slowly giving way to Hinduism and Buddhism. It is frequently possible to witness such aspects of Gurungs life during the trek in Gurung villages, as well Sikles and Ghandruk is the main settlement of Gurungs.

Gurung often serves in the regiments of the British and Indian military as well as Nepal. It is usual to meet ex-soldier on the trekking trail who have served in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UK.Their salaries and pensions are an important income source. The remaining income is from herding particularly sheep and agriculture, rice, millet, wheat, maize, and potatoes.

Gurung men wear the traditional fashion woolen bag which called rhang or bhangra, out of a piece of cotton looped across the shoulders. And women, short blouse tied across the front and short skirt of made of cotton material and often towel wrapped around their waist and held by a wide belt as well as Tibetan type necklaces.

This trek offers you remote villages which are in the beaten track. Especially Sikles is the largest village of Gurungs and beautiful as well, it provides some amazing mountain views of Annapurna ranges, Manaslu and Lamjung.
